How to Prepare for Facet Block Injections in Little Neck, NY

If you’re scheduled for a facet block injection in Little Neck, NY, it’s important to be well-prepared to ensure a smooth and effective procedure. At NY Spine Medicine, we prioritize your comfort and care, providing expert guidance every step of the way. In this guide, we offer essential tips to help you get ready for your facet block injection at our Queens facility.

Tip 1: Follow Pre-Procedure Instructions

Your healthcare provider will give you specific instructions to follow before your facet block injection. These may include fasting for a certain period, avoiding certain medications, or arranging for transportation post-procedure. Adhering to these guidelines is crucial for the success of the injection and your overall safety. At NY Spine Medicine, we ensure our patients in Little Neck, NY receive clear, personalized instructions to make the process as smooth as possible.

Tip 2: Communicate Your Medical History

A detailed medical history is essential for your healthcare provider to tailor the procedure to your needs. Make sure to discuss any allergies, current medications, and previous medical conditions. This information helps in planning the facet block injection for pain relief effectively and minimizes the risk of complications. At NY Spine Medicine, we prioritize your health by thoroughly reviewing your medical background during consultations in Little Neck, NY.

Tip 3: Understand the Procedure

Knowing what to expect during the facet block injection procedure can alleviate anxiety and help you mentally prepare. The injection involves a local anesthetic and a steroid, administered directly into the facet joints. The process is relatively quick and typically performed on an outpatient basis. Understanding the steps involved can help you feel more at ease. Our team at NY Spine Medicine in Queens is dedicated to ensuring you are fully informed and comfortable with the process.

Tip 4: Arrange for Post-Procedure Care

After the facet block injection, you might experience some soreness at the injection site, but this typically subsides quickly. It’s important to arrange for someone to drive you home and assist you with activities for the rest of the day. Rest and avoid strenuous activities to give your body time to respond to the injection. If you have any concerns post-procedure, the team at NY Spine Medicine is just a phone call away at 212-750-1155, ready to provide support to our patients in Little Neck, NY.

Have a question?

The earliest known residents of the area that would become Douglaston-Little Neck were the Matinecock Native Americans. They were sustained by the seafood in Little Neck Bay.

Early Dutch settlers were drawn to the area by the rich land and abundant fishing. In the 17th century, European settlers began arriving in the area for its conveniently located harbor. Soon after, the British and Dutch gained control of the Matinecock lands peacefully, except for a small area known as Madnan’s Neck (possibly a shortened form of Native American name for the area, Menhaden-ock, or “place of fish”). Thomas Hicks, of the Hicks family that eventually founded Hicksville, and a band of armed settlers forcibly drove out the Matinecock in a battle at today’s Northern Boulevard and Marathon Parkway.

In 1796, Hicks’s estate passed to Thomas Wickes (1770-1854), and in 1819, to Wyant Van Zandt, a wealthy merchant, who built a large Greek Revival mansion in the area. Today, this mansion houses the Douglaston Club, a private club with tennis courts, social activities and swimming pools. In 1835, George Douglas bought 240 acres (0.97 km2) of land along with Van Zandt’s mansion. Upon Douglas’ death in 1862, the land was inherited by his son, William Douglas.
